You can count number of characters in Excel by using the available functions in Excel, follow the below easy steps on how to count number of characters:
1) Let say you have a file which contains addresses as per sample below:
2) You wanted to know number of characters plus the empty spaces, at any empty cell, enter =LEN(C2) where C2 is a cell location that you want to count the number of characters, then press ENTER:
3) Total number of characters will be displayed on the cell as shown below:
4) Double click on the small square which located on the bottom-right of the cell D2, this is to copy the formula to the rest of the rows:
5) Now you have number of characters for all the addresses:
6) Finish!
